题目: Biomimetic Preparation and Dual-Color Bioimaging of Fluorescent Silicon Nanoparticles

摘要: Herein, for the first time, we present a kind of biomimetic strategy for the preparation of fluorescent SiNPs in facile, rapid, cheap, and green manners. Significantly, small-sized (diameter: ~3.8 nm) and fluorescent (QY: ~15-20%) SiNPs with high crystallization can be readily formed in 10-min microwave irradiation by using diatoms as accessible and nontoxic silicon precursor, without requirement of any other additional chemical reagents. Of particular note, in addition to strong fluorescence and favorable biocompatibility, the SiNPs exhibit extremely narrow emission spectral width, with a notably low (full width at half maximum (FWHM), ~30 nm). Taking advantages of these unique merits, we further demonstrate the first example of SiNPs-based dual-color bioimaging in vitro and in vivo. Since the worldwide supply of natural diatoms has been estimated at >10000000 tonnes every year, we envision that these results would offer promising opportunities for facile, green and massive preparation of high-quality SiNPs, vastly facilitating the supply of functional silicon nanomaterials and advancement of SiNPs-based biological and biomedical research.
